Moving (3 photos) by Dave Hileman

Every year the graves of veterans have a wreath placed at each marker. I have photographed these at Arlington twice and at several sites in Virginia. This is the first time here in Knoxville. Still each time is a beautiful expression of appreciation toward those who served.

Lake Agnes too by Dave Hileman

Seemed only fair to show the lake from near the waterfall into the valley that the hike takes you nearby. I took yesterday’s photo from the trees at the center of this photo just past the rock slide area. Note the huge difference in the sky looking this direction v yesterday’s shot.

Lake Agnes by Dave Hileman

Banff has amazing scenery and it is almost overwhelming with the vistas, the lakes and mountains that seem endless. Yet, one of the best things I have done there is the hike to Lake Agnes and the Lake Agnes Tea House. Rebuiit in 1981 it serves coffee, tea and pastries during the season. You can only get here by foot and everything in the tea house is carried up the mountain as well. The walk around the lake lead me to the view in this photo looking back toward the tea house on the extreme left of the photo. Note the lake is still full of ice even on the mid-June afternoon.

Joy by Dave Hileman

This beautiful new baby, Mary Evelyn, has a sweet new grandmother and they will find great joy sharing life together as Jill watches her grow and develop her skills and talents over the years. Excited for everyone, her strong parents, her paternal grandparents, uncles, cousins, aunts and lots more to love, pray for and nurture this little blessing.

Just a bit of ice please.... by Dave Hileman

I will share more later about this glacier but in this shot a substantial portion of the glacier just calved off and the cracking and splintering of the ice created huge splashes and massive chunks of ice bobbing about in the sea. Yet what was to come overshadowed this by a huge margin.

Flight by Dave Hileman

The eagles are abundant in Alaska. This one I photographed about 15 miles past Haines on a decidedly non-tourist type road called Mud Bay Road. But what beauty.

Falling Water - last couple of shots by Dave Hileman

I have written a lot about the house but here are a couple shots I did not post earlier. The lower deck is bisected by the living area but extends quite a distant on either side and also has stairs to the stream below. You can see the stairs in the last photo. The upper deck in one of three as each small bedroom has a large private deck. It was designed by FLW to encourage outdoor living. The pool is located up the hill from the main house beside the guest house. It is fed by a mountain stream meaning that it is never warm! You can also see by the color change on the deck that the restoration work is not quite finished.

Typical by Dave Hileman

Jill and I were fascinated by the beautiful scenery around Scotland. The rich greens of the fields dotted with sheep, the deep blues of the sea and rugged rock walls were often in view as we navigated the coast of Scotland from the Western side across the top and down the East coast. Great memories.

Glacial River by Dave Hileman

This river of slow moving ice was photographed from a small plane over the Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. I was there in 2019 and the small plane was a most fabulous way to view this vast icy land and seascape. Moments never forgotten.
